Activity Details: July 1st HKSAR Establishment Day – Chinese Cultural Activity Day

Target Audience: Students from K1, K2, and K3 (Nursery, Lower, and Upper classes) and their parents

Objectives:
1. To deepen children's interest in and appreciation of traditional Chinese arts through facial makeup masks, ink wash painting, and rainbow calligraphy.
2. To introduce Sichuan Opera Bian Lian (Face-Changing) as a precious Chinese cultural tradition by inviting renowned master Ms. Wai Fei-hung for a live school performance, cultivating children's appreciation for traditional performing arts.
3. To introduce traditional Chinese culinary culture to children through tasting nostalgic Put Chai Ko / steamed rice pudding.
4. To foster an appreciation for traditional Chinese clothing by encouraging children to wear traditional Chinese attire.

Activity Description:
1. Students across all levels engage in traditional Chinese art activities—K1: Chinese Facial Makeup Masks, K2: Ink Wash Painting on Paper Umbrellas, and K3: Rainbow Calligraphy—allowing them to discover traditional arts through creation and appreciation, fostering a love for Chinese culture.
2. The performer shares the origins and development of Sichuan Opera Face-Changing and demonstrates how props like sleeves, robes, and fans are used to swap masks in an instant. This helps children understand Bian Lian as an intangible cultural heritage rich in technique and artistic value, enhancing their connection to national culture.
3. During the performance, the artist interacts with the children and invites them to try basic face-changing techniques, giving them hands-on experience with this iconic traditional craft.
4. On the day of the event, children wear traditional Chinese attire to school. During snack time, they sample nostalgic Put Chai Ko (steamed rice pudding), sparking their curiosity and appreciation for traditional Chinese food culture.
