Activity Details: Drums & Gongs Welcoming Dragon Boat Festival

Target Audience: K1, K2, and K3 Students (Nursery, Lower, and Upper Classes)

Objectives:
1. To deepen children's understanding of Dragon Boat Festival customs and traditions through the story "The Origin of Dragon Boat Festival," group games, and rice dumpling wrapping activities.
2. To allow children to experience the traditional art of rice dumpling wrapping and immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
3. To encourage active participation and reinforce children's knowledge of festival traditions through dragon boat crafting and dragon boat racing.

Activity Description:
1. A variety of group games and art activities are designed for each grade—such as dragon boat racing, rice dumpling wrapping, and scented sachet crafting—allowing children to explore the culture and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival through hands-on learning.
2. On the day of the event, children wear traditional Chinese attire (Chinese costumes) to school to enhance the festive cultural atmosphere.
3. Teachers share the origin of the festival, while a guest instructor introduces the ingredients and steps of dumpling wrapping. Children then get hands-on experience wrapping their own rice dumplings, which they enjoy during snack time the next day. This deepens their understanding of festive foods and brings out the joyful spirit of the Dragon Boat Festival.
4. Teachers guide children in using their handcrafted dragon boats for a fun racing activity, enabling them to experience firsthand the excitement of traditional dragon boat rowing.
5. Children make traditional scented sachets to present as heartfelt blessings to their parents, learning and practicing the virtue of filial piety.
